A couple of days ago I was offered the opportunity to again review a product and host a giveaway from Skin1.com. I couldn't pass it up because every product I've received from this company has been A+. So, here I am again trying the giveaway thing. Enter, share and enjoy.
What you'll win...
Five readers will each receive a coupon code for jane iredale Lip Drink SPF 15, 0.14 oz ($15 value), which is slightly bigger than your average lip balm. (You'll be able to choose whether you want your coupon code mailed to you on a pretty card from Skin1 or emailed to you.)
jane iredale's Lip Drink SPF 15 is sold in the shades of sheer, buff or crush. I like this about this product because normally when you purchase lip balms with sun protection you're limited to a clear choice. The Lip Drink, which is recommended by The Skin Care Foundation, is made to protect your lips from the coldest to the hottest weather and everything in between.
I prefer to use products on my face that are natural and environmentally friendly, and you'll get this with this lip protector. It only contains natural moisturizers and sun blocks:
The key ingredients...
- Vegetable Oil - This oil conditions the skin and slows down the loss of water from the skin.
- Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract - The extract nourishes the skin.
- Ascorbyl Palmitate - You may be familiar with this ingredient that is used as a preservative and an antioxidant.
Lip Drink is petroleum based to keep your lips from becoming dry and cracked, and also includes carrot seed oil for smoothness and softness. Here's a breakdown of all the ingredients:
Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) 1.75%, Vegetable Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Lotus Corniculatus (Lotus Flower) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Coconut Alkanes, Stearic Acid, Coffea Arabica (Coffee) Seed Extract, Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract, Alumina, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil.
What I think...
When I first applied Lip Drink I wasn't too crazy about the feel of it. I thought it seemed a little gritty, but now that I've worn it a few times it's definitely not gritty; it seems to have a mild exfoliating feel. I've tried the balm with and without lipstick. Without lipstick my lips maintain a very moisturized feel that is not greasy. When I applied lipstick it went on smoothly and looked silky - quite beautiful, if you ask me.
If you're going to use this product strictly for sun protection on your lips then you should reapply every two hours and more often if you're swimming or participating in any water-based activity. I would surmise that if you're wearing lip color over it that you should not need to apply it as often and especially not if you're using a lipstick with SPF.
As I've mentioned I'm a little biased when it comes to Skin1 because every product I've tried from the site has been a winner in my book. When I do these reviews I get a code to purchase $50 worth of products and, although I haven't written reviews for everything, trust me when I tell you it's definitely worth purchasing from them and entering the giveaway. Take a look at my other review about Guinot Refreshing Toning Lotion from Skin1.
