Resourceful mom’s guide to getting stuff done – Tip #2

Quick one-at-a-time tips to make hating chores fun

Tip #2 – Quick kitchen floor buff-n-go

This tip is great if you’re really busy and don’t have time to mop the kitchen and/or bathroom floor. It can also be fun as long as you are careful.

I discovered this one when I was rushing out of the house and accidentally spilled something on the floor. I sprayed some multipurpose cleaner on the floor,  got a rag – ripped up old towel, sheet, t-shirt… – then threw it on top of the spill, stepped on the rag and scrubbed with my foot while I fixed my to-go cup of coffee.

Hmmm… I thought, as I quickly admired the clean spot,  and sprayed a few more spots that needed some attention. I kept wiggling and scrubbing around with my foot, finished preparing my to-go items and was out the door leaving a clean floor and a pleasant smell behind me.

CAUTION: Although a rag under both feet sounds fun it’s probably not a good idea since it increases the chances of slipping and hurting yourself. One large rag with both feet on top may reduce that risk, but be careful. Do not do this in the bathroom right after a hot shower since the floor will be extremely slippery.

Have you checked out Tip #1 – Swift shower/tub scrub? What do you think about this tip? Gonna try it? Comment with some feedback, m’kay?

Lazy… uh, Resourceful mom’s guide to getting stuff done

Quick one-at-a-time tips to make hating chores fun

Tip #1 – Swift shower/tub scrub

shower curtainIt’s best to take advantage of this tip right before you’re ready to wash a load of towels and/or linens. This works best right at the end of taking a shower: Use your shower gel, soap works well too, on your puff or washcloth to scrub down the walls and, using your foot, the tub. Move the showerhead around to rinse and waa-la.

NASTY ALERT: If your tub is 10-people dirty this is not the right method. I’m the only one  who uses my tub and shower so it’s minimal scuzziness … and it’s mine.

What do you think? Gonna try or not? Leave a comment with your best shower/tub cleaning tip.

Come back tomorrow for Tip #2.

New, improved AMF summer programs

I participated in this campaign as a member of One2One Network and am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions stated here are my own.

Not too long ago I told you about the Kids Bowl Free program at my local bowling alley and that’s one of the things I’ve been taking my children to do to keep them busy during the summer. I like taking them because all we have to do is pay for the shoe rental and it keeps them happily occupied for at least an hour or so.

AMF_Summer_Pass_Logo_ColorBowling is a great pastime to cure the summer doldrums for children and parents. Since I’ve posted about our bowling adventures I found out, through One2One Network, AMF has new and improved Summer Unplugged and  Summer Pass programs.

With AMF Summer Unplugged program you can get your kids ages 15 and younger out of the heat, every day if you like, to enjoy two free games of bowling. AMF doesn’t want to leave parents out in the sun so they are offering an AMF Summer Pass for $34.95, which includes two games per day for the pass owner and up to three friends as long as they’re ages 16 and older. In each program shoe rental is not covered, but I think it’s still worth it. What do you think?

AMF has sweetened the pot even more with their 2013 changes. Instead of having to worry about checking email and/or printing coupons, all you have to do is take your membership card or give your name at your local center. Also new for Summer Unplugged members is the “Stay and Play” option, which allows you to add games for only $1.49.

Interested? Sign up is free and you can register up to six children. If you have more than six children simply create a new account using a different email address. Sign up now for your free summer programs – they started on May 13, will run through September 2nd and are available from the time the lanes open until 8 p.m. You’re sure to find a location that’s right for you since AFM has more than 250 locations.
