The first day of the Ultimate Blog Party is almost over and I’m just now getting a chance to write my intro post. Last week, when I finally saw the announcement that it was that time again I knew I should write my post, but I decided to hold off until this week. This week did not go like I planned at all. My 8-year-old daughter has been home from school three days out of this week due to (a nasty persistent) fever, headaches, sinus infection... So, here I am, finally saying hello and welcome. If you’ve popped over from UBP13 and it’s your first time visiting, I’m honored and excited to have you here.
I participated in my first Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom four years ago in 2009. I’ve partied three times during UBP (no party for me in 2012) and decided to hop on the bandwagon this year. For my readers who aren’t familiar with UBP: It’s a great way to meet virtual friends, find new & interesting blogs, win prizes and just have a little bloggy fun.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I’m Petula [pet cha la] the voice (brain, writer, blogger. Yup.) behind the words here at It’s a woman’s world. I’m mom to five ages 21, 9, 8 and almost 6, and grandmother to one precious, little girl who is almost 7 months old. I’ve been a writer, editor and journalist for a little under 17 years and I began blogging six years ago. I started blogging because I love to write and my career consisted of working and freelancing for lifestyle and business publications, which I grew tired of. I get a kick out of infusing my writing with humor, sarcasm, a little fantasy and creativity. With a blog, especially one that isn’t too focused on one topic, it can be what you want it to be.
On this blog there are product, book and site reviews as well as pieces about my children, my health and my life in general – hence, the title, It’s a woman’s world. You’ll even find a little poetry and creative writing, which gives you some insight into my thoughts and ability. My goal is to entertain, enlighten and educate.
More about my children: My four children (three daughters and one son) and my granddaughter all have names that begin with ‘A.’ We call my daughter’s boyfriend by a name that begins with ‘A.’ All the girls, including the grandbaby, have middle names that start with ‘L.’ And my three girls’ middle names rhyme with my middle name. There’s Amber, 21 and her daughter Autumn then Andre (he came 12 years later), Amareah (ah ma ree ah) and Anna. Autumn’s daddy: Andre. When we’re all together I have to say Big Andre and Little Andre.
One of the most important things about me, right after my children, is my health. I’m a chronic babe with invisible illnesses. I won’t go into the details here, but clicking the link will give you more information about my fibromyalgia, sjogren’s and multiple myeloma.
Overall, I’m a woman who is living life one day and sometimes one second at a time. I’m funny, loyal, creative, loving, sometimes moody, spiritual, intellectual and forgetful. (I feel like saying: “I am woman, hear me ROAR!”) I’m addicted to dark chocolate as well as skincare and hair products… oh, journals and the color red. And I love to read. Okay, that’s it.
Thank you for taking time to read this… I hope to see you around here again.
