My ‘Happy Day’ Plant

Rose plant 2A couple of months ago, near the beginning of the summer, I decided to buy myself a little treat. That’s not too unusual; it’s something I like to do every now and then. It’s always something that makes me particularly happy like flowers, plants, candles, air fresheners, perfumes, skin care products… something small and inexpensive (or for a fabulous deal).

This time I bought my cute little petite rose plant that you see here. I love it… well, mostly love it. It’s a little high maintenance because it needs to be watered daily. If I miss a watering when I finally come back there are yellow leaves staring back at me and then I feel guilty every.single.day. Eventually some new little leaves sprout again and all is right with the world. I can’t wait to see if the roses will bloom again next year. They have since wilted away and died.

Such a small thing can bring big smiles and lots of happiness. What little things give you pleasure?

  1. I actually have a cactus I like. I have a Mexican themed kitchen, so it works. Very low maintenance.

  2. I don't do plants very well. They all seem to die as soon as my hands touch them. But there is a window sill in my office and hubby said a nice plant would look good there. I asked him if it could be plastic. He said he had the right plant for me. I dont know what kind it is because it sits in the window and gets sun and I have to water it like once a week. It adds a nice attraction to the office and I must admit that it is still living after a few years.
