Nanocarriers to help treat cancer?

In the September 5th issue of Jet Magazine I read about Tyrone Porter, Ph.D., who is the assistant professor of engineering at Boston University. He is working on developing nanocarriers that are 1/20th the size of red blood cells and will deliver chemotherapy drugs directly into cancerous tumors. His work could diminish the collateral damage to healthy organs and could revolutionize the treatments for sickle cell anemia, diabetes and cancer.

I find this type of work extremely interesting and promising especially since it’s something that could mean seeing some changes in treatments of these devastating illnesses during our lifetime.
