My eyes are burning, my head is hurting and if I stop moving for five minutes I think I’ll fall asleep. My son dozed off on the 10-minute trip to pick up one of his sisters and went to sleep on the way back. The 2 1/2-year-old screamer has fought, pulled, yelled and cried for most of the afternoon. She and my son have not gotten along since we got home.
The 4-year-old has been giggling, laughing and playing while the others got in trouble. Now she’s playing with their kid’s laptop and imitating the animal sounds she hears. She has already did number and letter order, spelling and who knows how many other activities since she sat down at the other desk after I banned the other two from the room.
It’s quiet in the living room – where they’ve been outcast – and I hope they haven’t fallen asleep because that would make for a long night come bedtime. At least they’re quiet for now and the only noise, which I keep trying to ignore, is the laughing, beeping, giggling, talking (of the child and the computer), honking, ringing and variety of other sounds that are coming from the desk next to me. Was that an ape I just heard?
SIGH… Do you think if I take a nap along with the two other grumps, the 4 year old will do some laundry, make dinner, check my email and finish the paperwork I started?
Well, it’s a nice thought. How’s your day going?
