Tomorrow my middle daughter and my son are going to try out Tae Kwon Do. I saw an ad in a local family magazine where a studio is offering a free private lesson/meeting, a free uniform and two weeks free classes. During the classes the children will learn the basics and it will also be determined if that have the skill and desire to continue. And it's not until this time that they'll talk about price. I'm excited to see if they'll take to it; I think it'll be good for discipline and control. Hopefully, it'll also help to control my son's never-ending movement and energy. It works for me either way as long as they don't use a Bokken, which is a wooden Japanese sword. I think that's mostly used in Karate though... but you get the point.

3 appreciated remarks:
how cool for the free lessons. i also believe that it will provide positive discipline and structure. i have often times thought about something like that for myself, but i am getting way to old anymore.
have a wonderful day my friend...hugz!
I agree with PJ. It is cool that they are offering free lessons for children to test out. This way parents don't waste their money signing up their children and then their children refusing to attend the course. And I agree with you that this is good for discipline and control. Will help to expend their energy in positive way too.
I'm a bit leery of a place that won't talk money until AFTER the kids are potentially hooked. What if the kids love it but you truly can't afford it? Do they offer tuition breaks?
Also, there are some Martial Arts studios here that, once the kids have been there awhile, put a LOT of pressure on the parents to join in.
The shame of these practices is that Martial Arts is GREAT for focus and concentration and mental toughness, not to mention the physical aspects.
Hope it goes well!
