Missing comments

As you can see I switched the comment function back to the old way. Unfortunately, I lost all the comments (on Blogger) made using the Disqus widget.

If you want to leave a comment on the next nine posts (below) then you can do so here. Sorry for the inconvenience and I hate that those who commented on those posts wasted their time... well, sort of! I have all comments saved in my email so I can view them at anytime. :)

I received a lot of interesting comments about the new commenting system. One (my good friend Shaunalynn) didn't like it at all and I really appreciated her honesty. She also gave me a good chuckle in the process. My UK best blogging buddy Tina didn't like it either, but she said she would keep visiting! LOL... as was the consensus for mostly everyone.

There was one interesting comment though that made a lot of sense and that was as long as they could leave their URL if they didn't have a Blogger blog then they were happy. (Not their exact words, but you get my point.)

One of my main reasons, besides making my dearest blogging friends happy :D, was that the new way interfered with my system of returning the visit. The old way provides a wonderful link if I forgot your blog address and I normally immediately clicked through to return the visit and see what you have going on. So, now you can see why my visits to your blog or website have been down.

Although I can't promise I won't change my commenting method again... I do promise to try to be the best blogging buddy ever. :)

Loving the mailman...

... 'cause it's a good freebie day!

Today both my teenager and I had really good mail days. I got two samples (Pond's Clean Sweep and a Glad ForceFlex Tall Kitchen bag) and three magazines: Cosmopolitan, Country Living and Harper's Bazaar, which is 560 pages of their Fall Fashion Issue. Amber received Seventeen and a catalog from Bliss Living Home.

Although I am happy to get new (and free!) magazines I am a little behind on my magazine reading. The pile is a good 10 inches high not counting what I received today.

Hmmmm? Sounds like I need a day of lounging, relaxing and reading!

What did you get in the mail today?

Your what itches?

I have had quite a few laughs at other parents' tales of their children's antics, but in my 17 years as a parent there haven't been too many times that my children have embarrassed me in public. Well, I guess there's a first time for everything.

I took the smaller kids to the library today and after they had played with the puzzles in the kids' section, chosen their books and checked out; I told them it was time to go. The two middle ones were enjoying some rocking chairs across the room from where I was and as Amareah, my 3-year-old daughter, slide to the front of the chair she said, "Mommy, my butt itches."

Well, there weren't too many people there so I hoped the lady sitting at the table and the librarian didn't understand what she said.

"Amareah, don't tell everyone," I responded as quietly and nonchalantly as I could.

"But it itches." She's still not close enough for me to clamp my hand over her mouth!

She jumps down from the chair and promptly reaches behind herself to scratch! Oh, the horror! I could have melted into the floor.

I gave a polite smile and said, "Don't do that... you don't let everyone know..."

"You need to wipe my butt 'cause it itches."

Finishing my sentence at this junction seemed pointless. By this time she was standing quite near to the woman at the table so I assumed the lady heard her. I gave her a smile and ushered my children out the door.

I tried to explain to Amareah that some stuff you don't say in public, you make sure to keep it private.

"But it itches," she says again.

I might as well have been talking to myself.

Sigh.

Don't laugh... :) I know you have some funny stories too. Be sure to share!

My Summer Fun photo

5 Minutes for Mom is hosting another great contest. This time it's to win $500 by entering a photo that you think represents Summer Fun.

This is my youngest: 1-year-old Anna. I don't think there's anything more precious than the joy on a child's face as she not only discovers the things she likes, but experiences it with such sheer wonder and happiness. I think this is the true essence of summer fun.

Wonderful weekend

Hello blogging friends and readers! :-) Well, you'll have to forgive my weekend absence from visiting and writing. My BFF from MD came to visit and take care of me... he has been so helpful, fun and entertaining that I've been busy either doing nothing or getting much needed paperwork done. This is all while he bustles around fixing stuff, checking other things and being an all-around handyman.

Oh, but I have to tell you about our afternoon at Dixieland Fun Park yesterday. I don't want to talk about him too badly, but (read this with a whisper) I BEAT him at miniature gulf! And although he won't admit it: I won the go-cart race too - TWICE! It was all in good fun and I am happy to be out of the house doing something different for a change.

I have to run, but I will be back tomorrow checking out your blogs and finding out what you did this weekend. I hope you had fun... don't forget to share! Smooches!
