A little, uh, back scratching

As read in the May issue of Redbook magazine: "... Female macaques (one of our primate cousins) have sex an average of 1.5 times an hour, but when one gets groomed by a male, her romping rate jumps to 3.5 times per hour, says a study from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Male humans, take note: A little TLC puts everyone in the mood."

Waiting room etiquette

Now I've been known to sneak a well-concealed snack in my bag for my children and even for myself. That snack is often consumed in places that have "no eating" signs posted. My personal opinion on those signs, for the most part, is they're rubbish. I mean, who in their right mind wants to hear young children whine and cry because they're hungry especially in places where you have to sometimes wait for hours.

So, that being said, I understand a little nibble on a snack when necessary.

What I don't understand is the woman who came into the pediatrician's waiting room yesterday with a gigantic bag of Chick-fil-A food. Her husband and three children had been there for about 30 minutes and in she strolls with the food asking the kids if they're hungry. She proceeds to take out two large plates of food and hands one to her husband.

At this time, the waiting room was quite full and the kids -- and I'm sure some of the adults including me -- were foaming at the mouth. I started feeling a little silly having concealed the Goldfish I was feeding the baby so the other little children wouldn't bug their parents. And I was so glad my two middle children weren't there because they would have stalked that woman for her food.

Then I started getting angry, "How rude!" I thought. Here I am with my stomach growling and I'm sure my Anna would have loved a piece of chicken (I could tell that by the way she was staring).

It wasn't like she brought in a little biscuit or something and inconspicuously gave her kids something to eat. They hauled out two full plates of food: chicken, grits, biscuits! And the woman talked to her kids loudly about the food.

Now, I would say, "I know her momma raised her better than that!" But, I'll just say, "My momma raised me better than that" and that was not only poor etiquette, but it was rude, rude, rude!

Maybe she should take an etiquette class! ;-)

Badges, buttons & codes

I have a cute little badge for It's a woman's world! (thanks to Tammy) that I would love to see passed around as an award or gracing the sidebars of your blogs. So, if you're interested in exchanging badges and buttons, please grab mine below including the code. And, if I don't already have your badge and you'd like to see it in my sidebar then just let me know by leaving a comment and telling me exactly where to find yours.

It's A Woman's World

The point of including the code? Backlinks, of course. You scratch my backlink and I'll scratch yours. If you've been so kind as to include my badge already and don't have the code then I'm asking nicely for you to add it. Pretty please. :-) Tons of thanks!

Real-life Papa Smurf

Remember Papa Smurf from that cartoon The Smurfs circa 1970s? Well, I saw him on the Oprah Show. Okay, I'm already being unclear and I don't mean to be disrespectful to the blue man. But there was a blue man on Oprah. I haven't watched the entire show, which was recorded from Tuesday, but the blue man that Oprah introduced at the beginning of her show caught my attention.

It's kind of a long complicated story, but he took some stuff with a friend and also applied it on his face and he gradually turned blue. His name is Paul and so far, from what I could find on YouTube, he's been on CNN and the Today Show. And, now, Oprah.

Watch the video to learn more about how he became blue.

Is it just me or does he look like Papa Smurf? You decide.

What's so amazing about Paul, to me, is that he's so matter of fact about his blue skin. It is what it is. He seems like a personable and lovable man who just happens to be blue.

Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody

Biyutaifuru rairikku (Beautiful Lyric) would be my Japanese MANGO because, according to one of my "bestest" friends, I'm a beautiful writer. So, if my anime persona existed in the Bleach magna she would have the ability to speak to the restless souls and help them find their peace.

To celebrate my newfound knowledge and persona, I'll have to check out the action-packed Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody, which hits select theaters around the US on June 11th and 12th.

Do you want to see it too? Check out Fandango for movie tickets.

PageRank Mysteries

I've been to two sites that give me a peek at what my current PageRank is. Unfortunately, when I've checked it has been zero. Yes, a big fat 0! Not only am I disappointed, but I've been trying to figure out ways to get it up. I realize that I have to get a lot of backlinks and I'm not sure if what I've done is working. So, I wanted to check again today.

The two sites that I went to about a week ago are Google PageRank Prediction and MyPageRank(dot)net. This week I couldn't even get those sites to calculate when I tried to see if my rank was up. To test the sites, I put in someone else's URL and I saw their rank. (I'm very jealous!)

Does anyone know why I can't get those sites to work now? Do you know of any other sites that will tell me my PageRank? Also, what have you done to increase your PageRank?

My health & weight loss journal

I'm proud to announce that the three pounds I gained came back off. What I'm not so proud of is the fact that I think stress and anxiety are contributing to the weight loss.

Although that's not necessarily good, I'm gonna keep that in mind so when things get back on track then I can workout like crazy. That way, at least to my thinking, the weight will stay off.

Regardless of how I lost the three pounds, I was happy to see it gone!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Tomorrow is the first birthday of my third daughter, my fourth child... the baby of the family: Miss Anna.

It's funny because today I was telling an old friend about my birthing experience with this baby who came into the world five weeks early. I was telling her how after already giving birth to three children you would think that I am all too familiar with the signs of labor, but this one snuck up on me.

In less than five hours I went from no contractions to holding a brand new baby girl. And that's just the short version of the story.

Despite my personal stresses, difficulties, tears and loss over the past year, I have spent it watching a precious child grow. The tiny infant who weighed less than five pounds (4 lbs. 5 oz.) is a fast-walking, baby-babbling, hand-clapping, toothless-grinning bundle of joy now weighing in at 17 pounds.

Her giggles and screams fill this house. Her smile is mostly never ending. And boy does she keep me busy!

Let me be the first to say Happy Birthday Anna Banana... mommy's "Moo Moo." You are really loved!
