I don't see anything!

or do I?

My health and wealth loss journal

As you know I'm on a quest to lose weight and be healthy! Well, as you can see from my weight ticker at the top of the page, I've lost 11 pounds. Yippee!

I'm loving that the scale is steadily decreasing.

The problem?

I don't think I see any changes. I mean my pants seem to fit the same. Well, I did go to the next hole down on my belt. My back still has rolls. Oh, but wasn't there two rolls and not just one? Okay, I'm sure that my face looks the same. Hmmmm... looking a little slender today!

Well, although I'm fighting the fact that some small changes may be occuring, as you can see (how many times am I going to say that today?) I still notice the things that are the same.

But I'm gonna keep up the fight and look for the changes. I'm sure that before I know it my pants will be falling down, my shirts will fit comfortably and I won't look like a stuffed sausage in my coat.

Then, of course, I'll be obsessing over my hair! SIGH... it sure is never ending!

I'm not perfect?

No, I'm not! LOL! This award reminds me that I'm not perfect and that I don't have to be. Carrie, posted this on her Jabber Jaws blog, and so I had to share it here as well.

Like she said, if you have dishes in the sink, laundry that needs to be completed, a not so clean bathroom and some dust bunnies scurrying about then this is the award for you.

Things to make me smile...

Once again Carrie has been spreading cheer and smiles. She actually posted these a little while ago (a day or two) but I got caught up with life and didn't get a chance to post them.

Thanks, Carrie, for always thinking of others and for making this blogging world a brighter place!

Prettiest Mom Meme

Tammy tagged me with this meme and I'm not going to be lazy like I usually am... so, I'm going to post it with pride. Thanks, Tammy, for choosing me for this one!

Just copy the poem and add your name to the bottom of the list underneath the person who tagged you, then tag five pretty moms.

Prettiest Mom

Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom
I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

Before I was a Mom
I go everywhere I like without thinking too much.
I didn’t know much about parenting and breastfeeding.
I seldom buy new clothes and other accessories for myself.

Now tag 5 people who you think are special moms. Here’s the first chain of tags:
1. Lovelymummy
2. Pek Imm
3. Momisodes
4. Ling that's me
5. Janicepa
6. AnnieQ
7. Allthingspurple
8. Montessorimum
9. clumsy mommy
10. Sandra
11. KittyCat
12. VivianZ
13. Sting
14. Tammy
15. Petula

Yes, for all those wondering: I typed all the codes all over because I still can't figure out how to do it. Maybe I should get the teenager to do it, I'm sure she'll figure it out in no time.

I'm going to tag Farah, Cheeky, Melonie, Syari and Jaye.

My friendly site!

No, I'm not being conceited! At least not this time. :) My friends Tammy and Syari recently gave me this reward so I thought that justified me in saying I have a friendly site. What do you think?

Isn't it beautiful!?

Forgive the delay

Earlier today (well, if I finish writing this in the next five minutes before midnight) I went around commenting on blogs and saying thanks for awards and such. The problem is that I never got around to posting them.

Besides the baby who NEVER took a nap today. Put her down, she was up in five minutes. Put her down again, she was up in two minutes. Put her down for a nap, or so I thought, and she was up in 15 minutes. Whew! And she stayed awake until 11 p.m. tonight!

Oh well, I digress... Besides the baby never taking a nap today; I had a small crisis to deal with. More emotional than anything I could actually do something about today so I got a little off track, lost my notes with the name of the files I had saved and was so frustrated I couldn't concentrate.

So, hopefully today (tomorrow? oh, I'm so tired) I will catch up with everything. Hope everyone had/has a good night!

Good night!

Losing everything!

If you had a friend or a family member who said to you, "I'm going to lose my house." What would you do?

Choose your answer:
A. You'd say, "I'm so sorry to hear that." And never mention it again, don't call them and hope that they're okay when you don't hear from them.
B. Say, "Gosh, I wish I could help, but I have to go get my hair done."
C. Don't say anything because you don't know what to say.
D. Say something like, "I wish I could do more, but I do have ($100, $50, $10). It's not much, but I hope it'll help out some."

I love flowers!

If I could afford to I would probably buy myself a fresh bouquet of flowers everyday. One of my oldest and dearest friends who I've known since 1986 sent me the most beautiful flowers for my 39th birthday -- I think they were from 1-800-FLOWERS, but I can't remember. But I do remember the first time he sent me flowers -- or I guess I should say a flower -- in 1992.

I received the cutest little padded envelope in the mail less than a year after my first daughter was born. I opened it up to find a nice pink carnation.

It was the sweetest thing I had ever seen. And the most squished I'd ever seen!

You see my friend didn't really think through the actual mailing of the flower. It never dawned on him that the flower may get squished. To this day I tease him about it so when he sent me flowers on my birthday I had to say, "They arrived so nicely... and packaged so prettily!"

"You're never gonna let me live that down, are you?"

Of course not! What are friends for?

Well, I don't know when I'm going to get any flowers from someone so I think I'll check out 1-800-FLOWERS; they're having a couple of nice little promotions (especially for that day I'm not so fond of!). Right now you can Buy 1 dozen Red Roses, get 1 dozen FREE! plus FREE Vase! exp. 2.3.08. That's a great deal to me!

So, if you're like me and love flowers, treat yourself to some today.

You can get prescription eyeglasses for just $8

If you wear glasses like I do you may be paying hundreds of dollars for your prescription eyeglasses. Well, thanks to Zenni Optical, you can get your glasses for as little as $8.

That's right! Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case! ZenniOptical sells stylish glasses online and has a huge selection of frames with single vision lens, sunsensor lens, tinted lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens.

How are they able to offer them at such a low price? The Secret is that they sell their own manufactured frames directly to the customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget.

I know I'm always looking for a way to save a little bit of money and I think this is a great way to save money on something you really need.

Ready to kick butt!!

... or save my life!

On Saturday, the teenager and I took a free Women's Defensive class at the local community college. It was a three-hour long class that had verbal and interactive instruction. We learned several techniques to use in a situation if someone is trying to attack us or restrain us.

I was surprised at how effective the techniques are and will practice them as often as I can. I was joking with a friend of mine that now that I know some good techniques I can add them to my ghetto girl ones!

Check your local community college for a list of continuing education classes. Not only will you get the chance to learn something helpful, but if you have older children then it's something you can share together.

Amber and I had a wonderful time learning and spending time together. It was a much-needed break in my routine.

Have a happy Monday!
