Monday's Muse - Rest and relaxation

This morning has been very relaxing for me. Somewhat against my will* I was forced to stay in bed and doze (the younger kids are still with their dad on Monday mornings). I rested, rose to get breakfast and read then came into my office to work.

It dawned on me while I was sipping on my coffee and reading my book that I need this relaxation and rest to be productive, calm and creative. In fact, while I was enjoying my time I also realized that it was due in great part to my BFF Frankie (who takes such care in paying attention to my well being) who reminds me that I need to rest, relax and take care of myself.

So, it was actually a milestone for me not to feel guilty for taking this time for myself. Since I've sat down to work, I've mostly completed my to-do list for the week, began a creative writing, responded to several emails and blog hopped, commented and dropped. And it isn't even 12:30 yet.

If I could just keep this thought in my head even if I'm running late and try to maintain some sort of relaxation it's possible that I won't get so stressed out and can get a better handle on my creative self. Imagine the writing I would get done, the emails that would get answered and, most of all, the improvement to my overall mood.

I encourage you to find some rest and relaxation time too. It's so important to our health and well being and... it feels so damn good! Happy Monday and have a great week.

*I was recently prescribed a sleeping pill that I've tested over the weekend.
