Subconscious thoughts

There aren't many times that I remember my dreams so when I finally do I've taken the time to think about them and try to figure them out. A few weeks ago I dreamt that a police officer (I don't know if it's important that he was Caucasian) broke into my house after I told him he couldn't come in without a warrant. He kind of creeped me out so I locked the door and went to go upstairs. I don't have an upstairs in my home now so maybe this was my dream house. He broke the door in and pulled his gun.

I was really scared and backed up the stairwell. He made some very nasty remarks to me saying what he was going to do to me and things like that. If I remember correctly he started shooting his gun. Whatever happened next caused me to awaken with a start and my heart was racing. It doesn't sound that scary telling you about it, but it was very disheartening at the time.

As you probably know I consulted the Dream Moods dictionary and this is what I found out:

"To see the police in your dream indicates some failure to perform or to honor obligations and commitments. The police also symbolize structure, rules, and control. A more direct interpretation of seeing the police in your dream forewarns that you should avoid reckless behavior."

"To dream that you feel fear signifies that your achievements will not be as successful as you had anticipated. You are having anxieties in certain circumstances of your life. ... To dream that you are scared, indicates that you are experiencing self-doubt and feelings of incompetence. You may be feeling a lack of control. Anger often masquerades as fear, so also consider issues about which you are angry about in your waking life."

Although the police portion of the interpretation is a little sketchy, I think the fear/scared part is right on the mark. I have a lot of anxiety about my financial situation, my circumstances and the lack of support in all areas that I receive from my soon-to-be ex. I definitely experience self doubt and feelings of incompetence, and - to be honest - often feel a lot of anger.

Many people may not put much credence into dream interpretation, but our dreams can often give an accurate look into what is going on in our subconscious. Maybe by revealing what is lurking within we can deal with it head on.
