Doing a happy dance

My health and weight loss journal

I am not the biggest fan of going to the doctor, but I have to admit I was pretty excited about going to the Women's Wellness clinic at the Veteran's Hospital today. I trudged sleepily out the door at about 7 a.m. for the 8 o'clock appointment.

I left my appointment with a plan for managing my fibromyalgia including some new medication, physical therapy intervention and a visit to a, ahem!, therapist. Hey, I don't mind that at all as long as I have my drugs! The goal is to work with my entire self to make this chronic pain condition easy - for lack of a better word - to live with.

I also visited the lab to check my cholesterol, which was high at the end of last year; did a diabetes screening; had my liver enzymes checked (yes, there's a lot I haven't shared) and all of the other general and not-so-general blood work that must be done. My mammogram will be scheduled for September. Yes, I'm old enough -- well, I will be in September -- for that. And tons of other fun stuff.

Now, join me in doing the happy dance, that this woman is taking care of her health care business! Yippee!

Oh, and before I forget, did you notice the slight movement of my weight loss ticker? You didn't? Well, I'll have you know that it's moved down one whole pound! That's right, fans, I am one pound lighter.

This week is turning out pretty good, huh? How's yours been?

  1. I am glad you made it to the doctor and it sounds like every thing went well so dance on lady!!!

  2. You're a one fantastic woman. You make light of your illness and relay your struggles with this disease in an upbeat and humorous way. I admire you for it and for taking good care of yourself.

You just reminded me that I should make my own annual doctor's visit. Argh! Congrats on the 3500 calories you've lost.

I'm putting on more poundage, I'm afraid. I need to do something soon before it really gets out of control.

  3. Good job on getting your health back on track!

  4. Congratulations on your weight loss, keep up the great job! I too am 'trying' to lose a couple of pounds. It was hard during our vacation to Europe, we ate in good restaurants for a month. Good thing that we walked a lot or else I would've gained a lot of weight.
Thank you for your comment on my blog. I also like to watch Run's House and Made. :)
    Definitely Maybe!

  6. wow Petula, you are on the roll! congratulations for being a pound lighter, I so envy you. it takes a lot of determination to loose a pound, and if you did it, then, you are surely a winner. How many more pounds before you achieve your ideal weight? or rather- desired weight?:)

  7. Way to go lady!!! Proud of you!

What's up men & women of my world! I am all a-giggle that you decided to comment. You're what make this world go 'round... ya know? This "world." I love you! Smooches. :-)
