Keeping my legs crossed

I have a bad habit, but before I tell you what it is I want to defend it... and I know you moms will relate. I don't have much time to actually work each day so each minute that I'm able to get is precious. I spend my mornings getting people ready to go, taking people places, giving people snacks and finally trying to get the baby down for a nap. By the time I walk into my home office it's already 1 p.m. and sometimes later.

So, when I finally get the baby down for her nap, I may grab some lunch and take it into the office. I may have a cup of coffee, a half a cup of juice and a couple of glasses of water. About an hour later I have to use the bathroom.

Ut oh... the bathroom is across the hall from where the baby sleeps in her crib. And, yes, we only have one bathroom. Now although there's normally noise like the t.v. on or music playing (if it's too quiet she'll wake up), I'm still remiss in making any additional noise. I won't even put in a load of laundry to wash because the machine now sounds like a bulldozer barrelling down the street.

That means I make the decision to wait to go to the bathroom. Yesterday happened to be one of those days where I was loaded up on beverages -- mostly water cause it was 90 degrees -- and I really had to go... I waited at least an hour (if not more) before I tiptoed down the hall, quietly entered the bathroom, eased the door closed and relieved myself. Ahhh!

There has to be a better way. I mean, it isn't healthy to hold your urine like that, right? Well, what's a WAHM to do when she only gets one to three hours a day to work? Buy a portable potty? Get a bucket?

I guess I'll just keep tiptoeing to the water closet. (I learned that phrase from Farah!) What kind of tips and tricks do you have for WAHMs who have their kiddos at home with them.
