Pedal! Pedal!

Since it seems like my previous plan of cutting and counting calories has put me in a somewhat stagnant state I figured I needed to do something else. Or more of something, I guess I should say, especially since I fell off the wagon a little.

Quite some time ago I received an exercise bike from a freecycler. If you're not familiar with the term, let me explain: a freecyler is a member of Freecycle.org where you can post things (furniture, clothes, baby items, etc.) you are giving away and request things you are looking for. I had originally requested a treadmill, but when I went to pick it up I couldn't get it into my van and there was an exercise bike there that the freecycler said I could have as well.

My teenager and I struggled for quite sometime to get the bike into the van and home. I remember that I ended up being late to pick up the two middle children. When we finally had the time to look at it closely we realized it didn't have a power cord.

I contacted the person who had given it to me and she didn't have it. I went online in search of it, posted a request on Freecycle.org, inquired at Play It Again Sports and Radio Shack... but no luck. So she said she would hold onto the treadmill for me since I couldn't use the exercise bike.

Well, guess what? My best friend and my oldest daughter's godfather came to town last night and he was able to find a power cord that works for the bike! And I rode almost four miles tonight! I am so proud of myself.

Even though the bike is older it has a really nice programmable display that keeps track of calories burned, miles gone, heart rate and some other stuff... So, I really appreciate receiving it and being able to use it.

I hope this is the boost I need to get back on the wagon and begin losing weight again. Tomorrow my plan is to do yoga in the morning and, hopefully, get on the bike in the evening. One of the best things about it is it's the kind that you have to use your arms as well! It's quite a workout!
