Pounds & Inches vs. Food & Treats

My health and weight loss journal

I have a confession to make: I've gained a little weight. Only about two pounds... see at first I wasn't losing anything for a few weeks, but I could fit smaller sizes. So, I figured that I was losing inches and not pounds, which is fine with me but a little frustrating that the scale got stuck.

Then I started being a little bad. First I went back to drinking a cup of coffee (with raw sugar and creamer or condensed milk). Okay, let me be honest: I went back to drinking a MUG of coffee. Then all of a sudden I was drinking two mugs per day. Then I wasn't drinking as much water... then I wasn't working out as much and then there was this past week:

- Some Starbucks
- Two slices of cake
- Chocolate chip cookies
- Homemade chicken soft tacos (two nights!)
- A Blimpie's sub (okay, it was the combo but I got the low fat chips! Okay, I also had a root beer! Geez, are you happy now!?)
- 4 glasses of wine (not in one day!)
- Some chocolate kisses
- One of those large, fresh baked cookies from Publix
- Oh yea, I almost forgot the Coke and the half a tub of popcorn. SIGH!

So, as you can see, I fell off the wagon, but I'm back on today. Although I'm craving the coffee I haven't had any and drank my green & white tea with my breakfast. And I'll go back to treating myself about once a week unless it's Skinny Cow ice cream, which is the absolute best "health" food ever.

I also did 30 minutes of yoga today and yesterday, and I hope it warms up so I can go walking in the park sometime this week.

I'm glad I got that off my chest. It was a big secret weighing (excuse the pun!) me down. However, don't you dare say anything about my weight loss ticker... yes, it has went up a little, but that's only temporary. Now that you know I've been cheating you can keep me straight!

Oh, one more thing... here's a little encouragement for me: I've noticed that I look a little thinner in pictures so I guess I'm not doing too bad. Let me know what you think:

  1. Thanks so much for the nice comments. Means a lot coming from a writer like yourself. I think you look great. Good luck with the diet. I'm also trying to lose the post baby weight. Having trouble. I keep falling off the wagon too. Looked at the pictures of your kids they are sooo... cute.

    If it makes you feel better, I've been telling myself I'm gonna lose a bit of weight SINCE 2001.

    You're doing great - if you don't 'fall off the eagon' (as you say) every now and then, then you're not human.

  3. Sorry, I meant 'wagon'! Though you could say 'Damn, I fell off the eagon. Grrrr.' I wonder if eagon means anything? Hmmm.

    your very good for confessing your sins to everyone, i think it helps!

    everyone slips up now & again but your doing so well, keep up the good work!

  5. Petula I can really see a big difference in those photos. We all fall off the wagon but at least you are getting back on :0)

    I will update your results for our weigh in Tuesday and I'm sure you will see good results next week...You can do this girl. you rock :0)

  6. ha ha i got to that point with my diet. I restricted myself so much treats, i used to have cravings and want to eat lumps of cheese or just a piece of chocolate at midnight lol.

  7. you really lost a lot of weight Petula, it's so obvious! I envy you for that. I've been trying to lost some weight since I gave birth to my youngest, but it seems pretty hard and I don't think my weight is any lesser even with dieting! It's so frustrating!
