Sleepy Eyes

I feel like I'm just sitting at my desk spinning my wheels. I am so tired and sleepy. I don't feel well so it's hard to concentrate and be productive. On Tuesday night I got a few hours sleep, but on Monday night I kept being awakened by one kid or another. Last night, I was awakened several times by the baby and once by the 2-year-old who had to get up and tell me her nose was running. She went on her own, got a tissue, blew her nose and went back to bed. I didn't discover until this morning that she'd actually had a nose bleed. She's often nonchalant about stuff like that, but in my not-feeling-good-too-sleepy mode, I missed it.

I have 10 minutes left before I have to leave and pick up the two middle children. So, I'm torn about what to do in 10 minutes. I haven't got anything completed today. By the time the kids were picked up for daycare, I had to leave straightaway to get the teenager from school for a doctor's appointment. Afterward we stopped at Toys R Us to pick up a Christmas gift for one of the younger kids. (I'm trying to shop gradually when I have a little bit of change -- that's a phrase my mother uses...)

We get lunch and by the time we're finished it's 3:30. The baby is tired so it takes me 30 minutes to get her situated. Now, about an hour and a half later, I have nothing to show for my day. Not even a good post because I feel like I'm rambling! :-)

Well, I guess I got something out of it: Took a child to the doctor, picked up a gift, ate lunch... uh, ate breakfast, fed the baby and got everyone dressed without yelling at anyone... checked my email (that's never done!) and... uh, oh well! At least I don't have to cook. Leftovers for everyone!

Hopefully I'll get to PPP, Smorty, memes and such before the end of the day. Or maybe I'll get another cup of tea and nurse my cold, flu, sinuses (don't know I just feel awful!) and call it a day!

Sign up for travel news, win four tickets

For your chance to win four tickets to one of 21 cities, all you have to do is sign up for Trusted Tours and Attractions e-newsletter. Each month the newsletter will include interesting stories, travel tips and travel blogs.

Trusted Tours and Attractions offers discounted tickets (save up to 20 percent) to sightseeing tours in Key West, San Diego and Savannah, which are great destinations to travel to for a winter getaway. I would love to take a trip to Savannah and experience the Savannah Riverboat Dinner Cruise or the Savannah Riverboat Sightseeing Cruise. What better way to see a river town than to take a cruise?

The two-hour dinner cruise features a dinner buffet, live entertainment and a spectacular view of the city. The sightseeing cruise, which last about an hour to an hour and a half, is on a replica paddle wheeler boat where you can enjoy the view from inside the cabin or out on the deck.

The contest for the free ticket ends on Friday, December 14th so don’t forget to sign up for the newsletter and you’ll be automatically entered for four free tickets to a city of your choice.

The great baby escape

My baby girl has a Bright Star bouncy seat (just like the one pictured here) that I bought from Wal-Mart. Well she was sitting in it the other day and playing with the toys when I saw she kept pulling herself up and past the toys that are hanging on the bar.

A few minutes later she sat back and noticed some magazines on the floor next to her chair. She sat up and leaned over in her chair trying to reach the magazines. I watched (with my various limbs positioned so she wouldn't hurt herself if she fell) as she kicked and wiggled her way out of the seat and onto the floor until she could touch the magazines.

When she was out she stretched her neck to look up at me and she smiled! She couldn't turn over because the seat was blocking her. I was so amazed! Are you wondering why? Well, my 6-month-old cutie pie can not sit up by herself or crawl!!!!!

Needless to say, I have since tightened the seatbelt as far as it will go and will never ever leave her unattended when she's in that seat.

This is my little escape artist - in the seat - a few months ago when she was content to just sit and smile at the toys!

Holiday Gift Guide - 22 days 'til Christmas

The chocolates have it!

Most of you know how I feel about chocolate. Well, I recently became privy to the best holiday chocolate EVER! (Don’t worry I haven’t had any since I found out that my cholesterol is high.) It is from Harry & David™, a company that is offering some excellent 2007 Holiday Exclusive Gifts!

The sample I had was their new Mint Chocolates Collection, which is made of pure mint oils and the richest mint chocolate. When I tasted one for the first time I was absolutely blown away and I’ve been melting to tell you about it ever since!

I’m sure the other exclusive gift offers are just as delectable: there’s the chocolate pumpkin cheesecake, caramels & nut clusters, a fondue set and dark chocolate hazelnut crepe cake. And that's not all. If you want something a little more in the holiday spirit, try the gingerbread cookie tree, eight nights of Hanukkah or the snowman cake. All that is just a few of the items offered.

To order, for yourself or that special someone in your life, check out When your product arrives, let me know what you think – I’m sure you’ll be blown away.

Weighing in

My weight loss journal - Days 3 & 4

I don't have too much to report. It's been a little hectic with the computer stuff going on. I think I've done well in minimizing my portion sizes and eating frequently; I guess only the scale will tell the truth.

I actually don't have a scale at home because it died. So, I'll have to get another one. For now, I'll just look for the tell-tell signs of the loose pants or slimmer neck. I'll do that until I get a scale or get to the doctor at the end of the month.

For my next entry you'll see one change: I'm going to start calling these updates "My weight loss & healthy life journal." Why? Because I'll be talking about the healthy life changes I'm making as well including my continued quest to lower my cholesterol.

True Blue Award

Many of you may not know that I'm absolutely wild about dolphins! My family and close friends often give me dolphin mementos because they know I'll flip over them. I even got a chance to get in the water with dolphins about five years ago at the Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach, Florida.

An-t-way, that's why I'm especially excited about the True Blue Award that Carrie was so kind as to bless me with. Not only did it cheer me up, but it brought an extra grin because of the dolphin.

Thanks Carrie, you're an inspiration and a true blogging friend!

Trouble with Yahoo!!

Has anyone else been having trouble with the Yahoo email account? I've been having problems since early Friday. I thought it was because of the spyware problem, but that has been resolved. Yahoo won't load the beta version so it suggests going back to the classic version until the problem is resolved. I guess that isn't such a big problem (even though I've become extremely used to that beta version and really like it!), but it's so much more convenient and faster...

I'd be interested to know if anyone else is having problems so I know whether something is still going on with my computer. Thanks!

Let's regroup

My computer geek best friend, Michael, and I spent hours on the phone yesterday getting my laptop cleaned up and back in safe working order. Thank God for computer geeks!

Michael, who lives about two hours south of me, couldn't visit so when he realized he really needed to be sitting in front on my computer he activated (signed into, tapped into?) a program (site?) where he could work on my computer remotely! How cool is that?! (You can see from my lack of knowledge of the terminology that I have no clue about this stuff.)

It was amazing to see my cursor move around and know that someone was working on it remotely. Luckily, I have voice over Internet so for most of the time I was on the phone with him.

I am just thankful that it's all better and I can get back to work. Now, where was I?... I'll spend most of the day trying to catch up on blogging, emails, etc. Hopefully I'll get everything complete and still have time for phone calls and paperwork. Oh, and let's not forget the busy little baby who hangs out with me all day. :-)

Big thanks to Michael for saving the day!

Spyware on computer

Unfortunately, I have contracted a spyware-type virus. I'm currently working with my "computer person" (read: best friend who's a computer nerd) to resolve the problem over the phone. This means I can't get into my Yahoo email and I'm scared to access accounts with passwords. So, if you don't hear from me, please know that I am working on the problem and hope to have it resolved posthaste!

This is making me very angry... like I have time for this!
