Amber admitted, answers to come

Although it's not the best news, it is the beginning of some real answers. Amber was admitted to the hospital today and is scheduled for an endoscopy tomorrow. She has missed more than two weeks of school and her pain doesn't go below a '5' on a scale from 1 to 10. Her pain normally hoovers at a 6 or a 7, she says. (It was up to a 10 last week.)

She was finally able to see the GI and I let him know his office folks had told us the only way to see him before Oct. 11 was to go to the emergency room. He was surprised about that and said he would address it. I plan on sending a "strongly worded letter" so that he doesn't forget, but to also tell him my appreciation in his proactive approach to find out what exactly is going on in Amber's stomach especially given that she hasn't improved any on the medication, which she's been taking for about seven days. (It's a 14-day regimen so she should feel some change if not feel complete recovery.)

It's way too late for me to be up since I have to get up around 5 and go back to the hospital. I wanted to spend the night, but they wouldn't allow the baby, Anna, to spend the night. Although she had been in the hospital since 11 a.m. and it was 9 p.m. they said she couldn't spend the night. Something about liability as far as sleeping arrangements and germ exposure to her. I think they're full of it. Anna is a quiet baby (no one knew she was there until they came into the room), first of all. Had we arrived at the emergency room at midnight then we would have been there "over night." And I could have easily brought her portable crib from home or she could have slept in her stroller. She had already been "exposed" and... well, enough of that for now.

I'll have an update regarding Amber soon... but if you don't hear for me just know that I'm taking care of everyone and I'll be back to blogging (reading and writing) as soon as I can. Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and concerns.
